Mother of the Year! She even appears to oversee a kindergarten of goslings! Digout, a resident of Saskatoon, Canada, stumbled upon the goose family while relaxing on the banks of the Saskatchewan River. Initially intending to photograph beavers, he became fascinated by this extraordinary family. This nurturing Canadian goose is caring for a sizable group of 16 baby geese!
Digout started returning to the river each night to observe this extraordinary family. The sheer number of geese was so captivating that no one could look away. With every encounter, the flock appeared to grow, and one evening, the number of goslings surged from 16 to an incredible 47! Digout captured the stunning image of the baby geese following their mother and shared the photos of the remarkable mother and her brood on Facebook.
The mother geese have numerous chicks due to a behavior called “gang brooding,” where multiple pairs of geese parents merge their families to collectively raise their offspring. This results in the mother goose effectively babysitting a large group of goslings while the parents take a break. One could say she manages a nursery!
The goslings adore cuddling under their mother, sleeping together in a large, cozy pile like a happy family! Mother Goose tends to them until they are mature enough to part ways and form their own families. Undoubtedly, managing such a large and playful group of goslings is incredibly challenging!
